The Weekly Three: November 13th, 2023
Fucking up while also getting fucked up is part of what we signed up for when we decided be all *entrepreneurial*. Failure is inevitable, but success happens when we can flow with the falls.
Welcome to The Weekly Three! Each Monday, I share a three-card Tarot spread to help you focus your intuitive energy in real life, and take action with intention inside your business.
I pull these cards with the collective energy of my community in mind, but if you want a custom spread of your very own, you can get it right here.

In The Cards: Do we stop? Do we go? Do we just start running and hope for the best?
There’s some scrambled energy in this week’s spread.
It almost feels a little manic, or akin to the way I feel when I’m tired-and-wired. There’s a dogged exhaustion that feels like it’s battling with new hope and enthusiasm, and maybe a little panic. Is it just me? Or is it all of us together?…
The X of Pentacles shows up for us a second week running, but this time in a reversed position. There’s some stress or mismanagement of the finances. The financial mismanagement also gets tangled up in family drama. It’s like the idea of legacy from last week gets turned into a situation where someone is angling to get the whole pot rather than being content with their share, or finances are being squandered and putting the entire unit in a precarious position.
The Fool is all overflowing enthusiasm and bubbly excitement as they set out on a journey to new heights. Are they just a little naive about what it takes to get there, or are they downright reckless? I think it depends on the context.
The Fool is associated with the planet Uranus, aka: the planet of revolution. Uranus is currently retrograding through Taurus, another sign associated with the element of Earth, as well as the cultivation and growth of security, the pleasures of life, the tried-and-true. What does it mean for us collectively at this time for there to be a revolution or rebellion in the scope of our security? And where is Taurus in your own birth chart that you might understand a little more deeply what that shakeup means for you personally?
The VI of Swords reversed is asking us to go back—we have unfinished business, and no amount of running away will help us solve it. The suit of Swords is associated with the element of Air, and maps to our cerebral experience of life. Something about the way we’re thinking, communicating, reasoning about a matter that might feel painful still needs to shift. There’s something we’ve missed or a new perspective that might serve us better so that we can truly move forward.
In Between: The moment you realize you’re falling and there’s nothing you can do but brace for impact.
One time in 8th grade I went to a friend’s birthday party. It was at a Fuddruckers (which my mother insists on pronouncing “fuhDRUCKers.”) It was at night at an outdoor shopping plaza, and we decided to play hide and seek, or tag, or some game where you’re running around trying not to get caught.
Long story short: there was a flight of stairs.
I was running at full speed.
I missed a step.
And for a second, I was flying.
And then.
I was just.
Falling.
I remember thinking in that moment “There’s nothing I can do now but fall. I hope those cobblestones don’t mess up my face for the school dance next week.”
And then I landed. Hard. I’m pretty sure I bounced. I had the wind knocked out of me and it took a few minutes before I felt like I could open my eyes and move. I remember my friends all crowding around me and someone said “she’s in the ‘dead position,’” followed by many a nervous giggle.
Obviously I survived. (Hi. Hello.👋🏽) But it also hurt like a motherfucker. I was sore for a couple of days, my hands and knees were all bloodied up (my face made it to the school dance unscathed, though!) And I feel like, since I decided to start my own business, it has just been a series of running, missing a step, falling, hurting, realizing I’m ok and getting back up to go eat some french fries and try again another day.
Here’s the deal. There are no blueprints for creating something new. There is no model for something you dreamt up. There are no steps to follow on a path still waiting for you to pave it.
And fucking up while also getting fucked up along the way is part of what we signed up for when we decided be all entrepreneurial. It’s a little bit masochistic, and it’s a little bit rock and roll (and it a little bit makes me cry a lot.)
BUT part of being able to get up again after falling, after learning the lesson, after gaining the skills, after getting hurt is having to accept the bit where we first actually just fall.
That doesn’t mean that we set out with the intent of failing. It just means that sometimes even the best-laid plans don’t hold up to the twists and turns of reality, and that has to be ok.
In Your Business: Failure is inevitable, but success happens when we can flow with the falls.
If you’re ready to rush off into the wilderness to climb every mountain with your newfound enthusiasm, instead: maybe don’t.
Redirect your energy toward taking care of something you’ve been avoiding. There’s big “go back and make sure that’s REALLY over before you try to come over here” energy in this week’s cards. It might feel like an irritating tag on the back of your sweater or it might feel like the devil has you by the ankles and is dragging you down to hell but, however UGH this moment feels, we’re being asked to go back and check our work. It’s a necessary step back in order to take a step forward.
Maybe this is a moment of reality checks. Maybe it’s a moment of having to accept the fall. All I know is that running around in a frenzy trying to “do” your way out of the pain won’t help you unless you find a way to ground that energy and address the unfinished business poking you.
What’s the fall you need to accept right now? And what’s really going to help you get back on your feet?
Until next week,
Zoha
