The Weekly Three: June 26th, 2023
Knowing what's "right" means knowing your context.
Welcome to The Weekly Three! Each Monday, I share a three-card Tarot spread to help you focus your intuitive energy in real life, and take action with intention inside your business.
I pull these cards with the collective energy of my community in mind, but if you want a custom spread of your very own, you can get it right here.
The Big Idea: The right course of action depends on the context.
🎶Oops! I got a(nother) new deck!😅🎵 (sung to the tune of Britney Spears’ Y2K smash hit, obviously…)
And it’s GLORIOUS.
If you were looking at Sad Squirrel and wondering where you missed him when you were reading up on the Major Arcana, don’t worry—you’re not nuts…🥸 One thing I love about Tarot decks that are so clearly a labor of pure love for the artists is that they’ll often design BONUS CARDS!
Bonus cards excite me for two very specific reasons:
They usually exemplify and further extend the artistic theme of the deck, which just hits all of the delight buttons for me.
They give you more space to exercise your intuition.
So, let’s assess: what is Sad Squirrel all about?
To quote a line from this card’s description in the beautifully bound “little white book” that comes with the deck: “Are you as defensive about things as this unhappy chappy?”
When I think about defensiveness, it always makes me wonder about the emotion underneath. Is it hurt? Fear? Anger?
And what is actually being defended here? And what exactly is threatening your sense of safety?
The next card in this spread by enormous contrast is the IV of Wands: celebration, community, a joyous occasion open to all.
It’s the coming together of the untamable quality of nature and the supportive quality of structure. A win in creating a plan while rolling with the punches, and a symbolic representation of the hopes for the big vision ahead.
These cards sitting right next to each other in what seems like a hardcore juxtaposition says to me that you could be vacillating between armoring up and welcoming with open arms. But what’s the right plan of action here?
The Page of Cups is emotio-intuitive news (that phrase is totally made up, but you know what I mean.) This card is creative and romantic, open to the flow and listening for gut feelings. One of the things that stands out to me about this card is the fact that so many decks depict the Page of Cups with a little fishy friend inside their chalice.
It makes me think about the different ways that we as humans “catch” information.
What are your senses telling you? Have you learned something new recently that pertains to your situation? Any intuitive downloads of your own that feel particularly important?
This card is asking us to pay attention to what’s in our net. What can we do with this information?
In Your Business: What does it look like to to lead with heart?
One thing is certain: we’re at the beginning of something. With the IV of Wands in the middle, it almost looks like a portal to a bright new world inviting us to fall right in. And if you’re launching, pivoting, noodling on something new, this spread is telling you to lead with your heart.
We’re often so focused on “getting it right” that we don’t think about what it means to get it right for us.
What do you need in your business at this moment? What are you trying to create and what part of the process are you in right now?
If you’re not all the way sure, go back and look at Sad Squirrel again and remember the question of what you’re defending.
What would it look like to find that sense of safety and act from there rather than from the place of warding off a threat?
It looks to me like the difference between doing what you need to do to survive when the rain douses your protective fire out in the wilderness, and dancing with your most beloved ones around the blaze of a bonfire under an open sky.
And here’s the reality of life: sometimes we have to fight for what’s ours. We have to stand up for ourselves and what we know to be right. Other times we’re just fighting our own ghosts and we need to let in the light and go join everyone around the warmth that’s already available to us.
It’s like these cards are giving you two different approaches to an issue and telling you to use what you know as well as what you ✨know✨ to choose how to move forward.
That kind of action may not feel natural. From the outside, it might not look like the “right” way to approach things.
But knowing the truth of what you need is the first step in understanding the approach that’s right for you, no matter what anyone else thinks about it.
Until next week,
Zoha
