The Weekly Three: December 4th, 2023
Taking an active approach to the energy you feel stuck in, even when all the options feel scary.
In The Cards: A bunch of blocked energy.
Three reversed cards in a row this week, and they all feel like they’re right where they should be.
With these three-card spreads, I don’t usually define positions and it generally feels like the first two cards are telling me a story and the third card is a prompt to “consider this when deciding what to do about that story.”
This week, the cards feel like they’re describing a complete situation, leaving it up to us to decide what to consider or not.
Welcome to The Weekly Three! Each Monday, I share a three-card Tarot spread to help you focus your intuitive energy in real life, and take action with intention inside your business.
I pull these cards with the collective energy of my community in mind, but if you want a custom spread of your very own, you can get it right here.

The V of Wands reversed is like energy being shifted, but not always in the most lighthearted or “resolution-y” kind of way. It can feel like the air leaking out of your balloon and you giving up and walking away disappointed. It can also feel like, instead of “friendly competition”, we’ve moved into “kill or be killed.”
Either way, this is creative, passionate energy that has been thrown completely out of whack.
The IV of Swords reversed represents being ready to act and get back on your feet after a period of rest. It can also take that feeling to the extreme: you’re totally wired and antsy with nowhere to spend the excess energy.
The Ace of Swords reversed can be like the fresh idea that falls flat. There’s no steam behind it or there’s some cowardice involved. Someone’s making a bad move for bad reasons, and it cuts to the bone instead of defending or protecting. Or, on the other edge of the sword, there’s surrender, a white flag, the end to a conflict.
In Between: Avoidance never looks good on anyone.
I feel like we’re all collectively full of nervous energy that we don’t know what to do with. We’re the IV of Swords reversed hitting up against the reversed V of Wands on one side and the reversed Ace of Swords on the other, and it feels like—feels like—we have nowhere to go.
Are our hands really tied? Or are we afraid of making a move that could be “wrong”?
In watching the brutality and genocide occurring in Gaza, it can often feel like we can’t do anything that would make a difference. They’re so far away. It’s another country with another government. One distant voice doesn’t matter.
But the truth is that movements are made up of people. Single, solitary individuals who join together to say something. One distant voice might not matter, but many voices together can be heard, even far away.
I’m fucking worried. Beyond the horrific affronts to human rights being carried out every day, I’m worried that there are people who can watch it all with the mild interest one might afford a chess game.
“Well, they started it with [insert x violent atrocity here.] They deserve it!” As if a government is the same as a religion is the same as a terrorist organization is the same as an entire ethnic group.
Humans did not evolve this far—to become self-aware, conscious of our own mortality and suffering, able to create technology that literally changes the course of life on Earth—only to be unable to give a fuck about thousands of innocent civilians being wiped out in the midst of a one-sided power dynamic.
In this open letter to President Biden from MSF-USA executive director Avril Benoît calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, Benoît wrote:
“Even war has rules. Under these rules, civilians must be protected from violence and have the right to access humanitarian assistance, especially medical care.”
The truth is, these rules aren’t being adhered to. Civilians are hurting, starving and dying by the thousands. Hospitals are being bombed and medical care is being hindered.
If you’re in a position to help financially:
Donate to Doctors Without Borders here, or find another organization you feel comfortable donating to.
If you can’t help financially, use your voice, use your platforms, amplify other voices calling for ceasefire and humanitarian aid.
In Your Business: Unclog the fucking drain.
When I see a whole spread of reversals, especially at a time like this, my first thought is always “what will it take to turn this energy around?”
Right now, it may feel like there’s a clog in the cosmic drain. The flow of energy in your day to day is totally stopped up with nowhere to go. How can you create space for it to start moving again?
Sometimes all of our options all feel scary. They feel wrong or fraught or painful. But in order to get somewhere better, we have to be able to move through the pain as well as the plenty.
What do you need to deal with head-on in order to stop running in anxious circles and move forward?
Until next week,
Zoha
