The Weekly Three: December 18th, 2023
Making do with the resources we already *have* instead of the ones we *want*, finishing what we started to make room for what's next and accepting the timeline of delayed gratification.
In The Cards: You get what you get and you’re allowed to be upset, (but that doesn’t change the situation…)
Want the carrot instead of the stick? You’ll have to make that happen with what you’ve already got this week.
The IX of Wands is always a tense card: you’re almost to the end, but you’re not quite there yet. And to get to the finish line, you have to follow through on what you started. It’s also a card that indicates a feeling of waiting for the other shoe to drop.
If you’ve been feeling totally beat up lately, I hate to say it, but the battle isn’t quite over. That thing you’ve been avoiding looking at? The project that feels scary as fuck? Yup. It’s still there. Just waiting for you to do what you gotta do. UGH. I’m sorry 😫. You must.
Welcome to The Weekly Three! Each Monday, I share a three-card Tarot spread to help you focus your intuitive energy in real life, and take action with intention inside your business.
I pull these cards with the collective energy of my community in mind, but if you want a custom spread of your very own, you can get it right here.

We’re out of new resources with the Magician reversed. Or maybe those make-it-happen muscles are feeling a little weak? (Guess what, though: that’s ok. More on this in a minute…)
The Magician’s numerology is indicative of the very beginning of a cycle, and being that it’s also a card from the Major Arcana, it’s something to pay attention to. Especially in conjunction with the IX of Wands, there’s definite “go back to the beginning and make sure it’s done the way it needed to be” energy happening here.
The X of Pentacles is an unexpected surprise at the end of this spread. It’s almost like it brings the preoccupied and drained feeling of the first pair of cards right back down to earth.
This card encompasses the idea of a legacy fulfilled. In an interesting contrast with the reversed Magician, the X of Pentacles is a card that says you’re flush with physical resources—totally secure in tangible abundance like money, physical vitality or a connection with nature.
Which makes me curious to know…
In Between: 🎶You can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometimes you might find you get what you need.🎵
If the physical resources are abundant, what kinds of resources are you missing or out of?
Mental, emotional, and generative resources are the ones that come to mind. And those aren’t things that you can really go out and pick up. (I fucking wish.)
The overall message here seems to be: come back down to earth, you have what you need for this moment even if you don’t have what you want.
Last week, there was a sign that things were shifting, but the shift was more of an internal one rather than an external one. You were being asked to wait a minute. This week’s spread seems to take that shift a little further, asking you to finish what you’ve started without worrying about resources you may not actually need just yet.
There’s something like having to finish your homework in going through the mundanity of completing an endeavor we’ve already set in motion. There’s no brainstorming needed, no creative or emotional juice we need to put in. We just need to physically go through the motions of actually getting a thing done.
And sometimes that feels really lame. The payoff we get from actually doing the thing rarely feels as glorious as dreaming about reaping the rewards from having the thing already done. There’s a delay in gratification in real life that doesn’t exist in the skewed timelines of envisioning.
That doesn’t mean that dreaming has no value—you wouldn’t be doing the thing unless you had dreamed it into existence first. There’s a purpose here and a grander-than-you-and-me method to the madness.
Neither does this in-between delay mean the reward isn’t coming—real life just moves a lot slower than our imaginations sometimes.
You’re just in a space of needing to oh-so-boringly tie up loose ends, wrap it up, close the books (right before the next step of walking away and letting the finished thing do its thing…)
Remember, too, that Mercury is currently retrograding through Capricorn, which needs for things to get done, (until December 23rd when it heads into Sagittarius, which needs to uncover truths.)
In order for the shift-gifts of Mercury Rx’s forced moments of reassessment to actually arrive, we need to create the space for them to land.
In Your Business: Sweeping the cobwebs and resetting the room.
Where are the loose ends? What got leftover or left behind or perpetually back-burnered? And I mean the kind of stuff you looked at and thought “oh, that will be easy, I’ll just finish that real quick later…”
Later is now.
Because this time of year is never great for starting something new, (maybe because of Mercury Rx, maybe because we’re mentally, emotionally and spiritually tapped out, maybe because there is literally no fucking time before we have to pack up and get to so-and-so’s house for this holiday or that and oh shit there’s so much fucking traffic did you remember to get the See’s Candy they specifically said Nuts & Chews…)
It just so happens to be great for only focusing on those little bits and bobs that got set aside because they’re “almost done anyway.” You can complete them with nothing more than the literal (perhaps very little, but still marginally existent) physical resources you have leftover to expend. Maybe it’s bodily energy, maybe it’s money you can pay to get it done, maybe it’s physical space, etc.
Finish what you started with what you’ve already got and anchor yourself in the physical resources that are already at your disposal anyway (whatever that may look like for you.)
Once again, the cards are asking you to make space for what IS so you can have space for what’s coming.
It’s not here yet, but it’s on its way, and it needs the room to land. So, clear some room.
Until next week,
Zoha
