Here's What's Going On Over Here Right Now
12/22/2023. I'm trying something new: here's what I'm working on, what's inspiring me and how to work with me as of right now.
Welcome to what I’m currently calling: “What’s going on over here right now.” I’ll be sending these updates out to you just once or twice a month. It’s where you’ll find: What I’m working on, resources and inspiration I want to share and the latest information on working with me if you want to!
Without further ado, here’s what’s going on over here right now:
What I’m Working On:
An offer-building workshop!
Basically, I’m sick of all of us getting fucked over by offer creation methods that cause us to rely on something seeming good to our clients from the outside rather than actually being good for our clients and for our businesses and for us as the captains of these ships.
We’re attempting to balance entire businesses on smoke and mirrors (guess what: not super supportive material) because we’re more focused on our marketing looking bomb than our offers being fully baked. We’re shooting ourselves in the foot(s?) and I’m OVER IT.
You better believe there’s a framework, a workbook with exercises and intuitive connection involved, because I am into nothing if not practical magic. (Both the thing that lets you take your vision and turn it into material action AND the 1998 film starring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, HELLO DUH.)
Keep your eyes peeled in the new year, it’s coming soon! (The workshop, not this movie… that’s already been out for FOR TWENTY FIVE YEARS?!? Oh my old bones…)
Writing more for YOU, my subscribers!
More stuff like this post on why Tarot isn’t an excuse for our bullshit, this post on the realities of bootstrapping your own business and this series on why launching is broken, in addition to more behind-the-scenes and explorational musings on building and running a microbusiness.
I want to explore more of what “success” really means, and the requisite self-trust, critical thinking and reality checks needed along our (not so linear) journey to that success in real life. It’s weird out here and I think we need more conversations that connect us in this strange reality.
Things I Think Are Cool:
One Love Prison Meditation Project
I connected with Tim Bryant, the founder and executive director of One Love Prison Meditation Project, in a kick-ass writing program. His heart and dedication to what he does were immediately apparent.
One Love Prison Meditation Project provides emotional and spiritual support to those in prison through meditation classes where students can be supported in their growth, wellbeing and connectedness.
From the website at onelovepmp.org:
More than a quarter of all state prisons do not provide people with programs such as counseling, awareness, or drug and alcohol rehabilitation.
Incarcerated people suffer greater anxiety, depression, feelings of isolation, and substance abuse issues while incarcerated. Our meditation classes reduce their anxiety and stress and create positive outcomes. A recent meta-analysis showed that prison visitation reduces recidivism by 26 percent. Prison visitation has been found to be more effective in decreasing recidivism when it is more frequent, is recent (i.e., closer to a person’s release from prison), and involves multiple visitors who provide incarcerated people with a broader network of support.
This past year, Tim has also connected with over fifty coaches to work one-on-one with incarcerated people via email and phone. “This extra support and connection has been incredible for all,” he told me.
If you’d like to get involved in any way, you can email Tim at Tim@onelovepmp.org and find him on Instagram @one_love_prison-meditation
